Two Years In… Still Pinching Myself, Still Grateful

Two Years In… Still Pinching Myself, Still Grateful

Big city gifting experience. Small town roots. Right here for NKY & Cincinnati.

If someone would’ve told me two years ago that our little floral studio would become part of so many life moments - graduations, weddings, anniversaries, sympathy tributes, holidays, baby showers, and even those “I’m sorry” bouquets that really saved someone’s weekend - I would’ve believed them… but I probably still would’ve Googled it just to be sure.

Because that’s the thing about small business owners. We dream big, we do the work, and we double-check everything.

This month, we’re celebrating the 2nd Anniversary of opening Flair Flower Bar & Studio. Two years of unlocking the door before sunrise, conditioning flowers in the quiet, ribbon scraps on the floor by mid-morning, laughter in the studio by afternoon, and those sweet moments when a customer says, “Just do whatever you think is best” - music to a florist’s ears.

But what stands out the most about Year 2 wasn’t the busy days or the sold-out holidays. It was the connections. The faces we now recognize. The businesses we now partner with. The young people we’ve been able to work with. The collaborations that reminded us we’re not building for this community - we’re building with it.

Shopping Local… Turns Out It’s a Big Deal

We’ve all heard “shop small,” but this year I wanted to understand the real impact - so yep, I looked it up (for the culture, for the community, for science, for all of it).

Small businesses account for about 44% of U.S. economic activity, and local retailers return 3.5x more revenue into their local communities than national chains.

Which means when you shop local, your money doesn’t poof into the corporate void - it comes back home. It pays employees who live here. It supports local vendors who create here. It strengthens the economy of the neighborhoods we drive through every day.

It turns out, shopping small is basically economic group therapy for your community. And honestly? That checks out.

What It’s Meant for Us

For us at Flair, supporting local means:

  • Sourcing flowers from regional suppliers and growers who serve Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky
  • Partnering with independent makers whose goods fill our shelves
  • Designing florals for local weddings, events, and gatherings
  • Investing back into community celebrations
  • Creating gifts that look like joy, feel like love, and offer comfort

Flair was built to stand apart -not louder, just different. A little French-inspired, a little whimsical, a little luxurious, but always rooted in heart. Because whether it’s a single bouquet, a unique gift or a statement arrangement, we want every piece to carry the same message: you matter, and this moment matters too.

And the Faith Behind the Flowers

I don’t often share it boldly, but I always carry it quietly - my faith in the Lord. He has been our source of guidance, provision, creativity, and strength. When the business felt heavy, He steadied it. When ideas ran dry, He renewed them. And when connections blossomed, I knew they were His kindness unfolding in real time.

Looking Toward Year 3

So as we celebrate two years of bloom, thank you.
Thank you for the support that has sustained us.
Thank you for the friendships that have formed here.
Thank you for every order, every share, every referral, every kind word spoken about our shop in rooms we weren’t in.

Because of you, we walk into Year 3 with excitement, inspiration, gratitude, and purpose. There are more flowers to design, more gifts to share, more moments to celebrate, more comfort to bring, more community to connect with - and we can’t wait for all of it.

Merry Christmas, friends.
Happy New Year, friends.
And thank you for shopping small, local, and with heart.
